Default Vetically stretched image on old TV

I got a problem with my soon 10 year old 70cm Teac. The image flickers between normal and vertically stretched to after a while (5-30min) settle for the stretched mode. It's completly random when it starts to happen, sometimes I can watch it for more than an hour until it starts. I've tried all different settings and there's no 16/9 mode on this TV so I think the picture tube is a bit dodg. It's really annoying since I use it to play PS2 and it's so stretched that I can't see the score/time when playing PES5

Does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this myself?
