Default 2x1GB DDR 400?

I'm looking to upgrade the ram in my system from what it is now (2x512MB DDR 400) to 2x1GB DDR 400. My motherboard is a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLi-DR Expert and I'm looking for some ram with these timings 2.5-3-3-6. Any one know which brands and models I should be looking at and which ones are good value for money?

Thanks

My PC Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice) @ 2.537GHz
Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 (2x512MB DDR 400) @ 195MHz, 2.5-3-3-6
DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLi-DR Expert

Had a look into Patriot ram, seems like a bit of overkill for me as I can't use CAS 2 with my current CPU (note that I've had my corsair ram for a while and had to use it in 2.5 from the time I bought my A64 3200+).

If I get an x2 AMD CPU will I be able to use CAS 2 and therefore get the most out of something like the Patriot ram? Does the x2 have to be any particular core to use a CAS 2 setting?

Sorry to be a pain.

Never no use for CAS 2 RAM

You will be able to use CAS2 no matter what AMD S939 CPU you use.

I use a 2Gb GeIL kit at 2.5 6-3-3 and it's never let me down.

Ok I've had a look around and I could go 2 ways with this, the first could be gettings some CAS 2 stuff like one of these kits:
http://www.pqimemory.com/spec.asp?li...00-2048DBL.htm
http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/...ail.asp?id=193
http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...l_platinum_xtc

Or I could save some cash and get something like this:
http://www.kingmax.com.au/Index.asp?...MAA&Loc=11Home
I've had kingmax ram in the past and it's always been good to me.

Is it really worth spending more and getting some CAS2 stuff?

Depends what you want to do

The Kingmax memory is a good price, not extremly fancy and is just going to work at stock.

Want to run at stock?
Want to save a few bucks?

Then go for the kingmax

Want to overclock?
Budget not so important?

Look at something else G.Skill ZX DDR400

I should note that I've never been able to run the Corsair ram at CAS2 with my current CPU... although it ran fine in my 2600+ XP at CAS2. It also won't even post with my CPU at 240x10 and the ram running at 200MHz (DDR 333 setting) at 2.5-3-3-8, but it will at 3-3-3-8. But I can run my CPU at 267x9.5 (2.537GHz) and 195MHz'ish (DDR 300 setting) at 2.5-3-3-8. At stock CPU speeds (200x10) I can run the ram fine at 2.5-3-3-6. Also note that my current ram was listed on the Corsair website to only run at CAS2.5 with an A64 CPU (CAS2 with Intel and Socket A CPU's), not that I had an A64 at the time to check with. Does this sound like a memory limitation or a memory controller issue?

It's proabably the ram chips itself. I've used a venice (3000+) in an expert board, with a 2gb kit of Corsair 3200c2 at 2,3,2,5 no problems.
