I had laparoscopic surgery and a week later I barely wanted to move, and he wanted to run, animals are so strange:P

Well the first drip has been through, he has a slight improvement (vet just rang) he has some really low glucose levels and they think it might be addisons but they wont know until the Lab can run his bloods in the morning.

Its all wait and see right now.
I hope everything is all right. Such a horrible thing to hear.

Yer it hasnt ended well, Cadel passed away @ 2.29pm this afternoon, we had a CT scan completed here were his problems. Alone, treatable, but the combination ment his death would come quick and soon (and it did)
  • Pancreatic Necrosis
  • Kidney Failure
  • Liver Failure
  • Tumor in his stomach
  • Lymph Glands in Stomach of Decent Size
  • Early Samples of Lymph nodes suggested Lymphoma

We got that Information @ 1.30pm, was told he would only live for a day max, 1hr later he passed away, in my wife's arms.

This photo was from this morning.. he went down hill from here, really really quick. In the end, he couldnt even open his eyes. His latic acid numbers were the highest the emergency vet (with over 26 years of exp.) had seen for a very very very long time.

The killer in all of this, was as the vet said, the sheer amount of acid in his blood would have been excruciatingly painful, he did not once whimper, whine or carry on through the whole ordeal. As the Vet said, he would have been dealing with this pain for over at least a 4 month period.

Amazing that 4 weeks ago, this was him the day we got him home.

Rest Easy Buddy, you will be missed.

So sorry to hear. At least he spent his last few weeks in a loving family who cared about him.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. You and your wife did an amazing thing for him. Even though you didn't have him for long, remember that if he hadn't have come to you he would have lived out his last days in that shit-hole he was in, in immense pain, with no vet treatment. You gave him a gift.

I'd be having some strong words to the shelter/rescue you got him from and their vet check process. The fact that they rehomed a dog to you that was this sick is unacceptable

One of the saddest things is just thinking how many pups he likely sired in his life as a puppy farm breeder, and how many pups will potentially meet with some of these problems too

Look after yourselves.

I shot this off the Councillors who declared the original puppy farmer to be compliant.

We have had words with the original Shelter referred Vet's and they are interested in the end report, which we will receive tomorrow. It actually has some wide implications, as the original owner could be found for animal cruelty, so yer, I fear its not over yet.

Good Afternoon,

I am writing to you on behalf of the article posted here:

http://www.prisonersforprofit.org.au/?p=532

My Wife and Myself fostered Cadel, the ‘9 Year Old’ Cocker spaniel featured in the article. I would like to inform you, due to the mistreatment Cadel received while in the possession of his previous owner (featured in this article, running his company from your council), he passed away this afternoon with pancreatic necrosis, which lead to Kidney and Liver failure as well as the early stages of Lymphoma.

How a dog. Who has been classed as a 3 year old my 3 vet’s has diseases beyond his years has bewildered the leading veterinarian surgeons of Melbourne, is amazing.

This cocker was slowly dieing, slowly dieing due to the consistent treatment of his previous owner; yet your council continue to allow his organisation to run.

You should be ashamed.

I covered the cost of this poor dog’s last 4 weeks of life, a cost of over $3500, a cost I know I will never recover because I gave him a chance, a chance that he might actually have a life.

I would like to know as a council, what steps you will make to address the situation not just for the previous owner, but for all Puppy Farms in your council.

Regards

Those 3 councilors voted to allow the kennel to remain open, the RSPCA are next, as they also declared the owner fit.

Its a shambles, such a waste of life.

As I type, 2 of his kennel mates (8 year old cav's) are both giving birth to what could be upto 15 puppies.

Its a disgrace.

And according to the video they both have grade 5 heart murmurs. To breed from that kind of genetic defect is just despicable. Doesn't VIC have laws now about intentionally breeding genetic defects? Surely he could get in shit for that alone!

Nope, RSPCA and Council allowed him to continue to operate, he surrended 6 dogs, Cadel was one, and the 2 cav's, and there is 2 spoodles and another male cocker who has syphilis.

This might change now with Cadel's death though, I just had a call, we might be involved in the legal action. They after the full vet papers ASAP.

So yer, seems I may be called to give evidence. Just what I need.

So, so terrible to read of his passing, but you my friend made his final few weeks blissful. I applaud you for that

Even though i know it sucks to give up your time to give evidence against this puppy farmer, it is a necessity and we here are all behind you mate.

RIP Cadel

Default Misty - Border Collie

After the passing of our other two Border collies last year we have held off for 8+ months but have finally taken on board a new Pup whch we have named "Misty" since we live in the hills and the first 3-4 days we had her the weather was "Misty/Foggy ". She's just over 8 weeks old now and a handfull, but it helps wth myself currently being home most of the day so she's getting plenty of attention.

Currently acclimatising her to collars/leads which after an initial resentment she is now getting used to

That's terrible. I hope the breeder gets hammered hard.

really sorry to hear about your dog. Its a disgrace that the council and rspca let it continue until now. Hopefully you giving evidence will help stop this stuff happening to more dogs and their potential owners
