I'm tipping Apple. Isn't Freescale a Motorola spin-off? (Motorola was part of a consortium with Apple and IBM that resulted in the PowerPC family of chips) I know Apple made a big deal with Intel, but they're a fickle bunch and if this is as good as it sounds, why wouldn't they..

mmm Interesting technology, but it does have a down side where Viruses and spyware are concerned if it stores data after power off i.e. non-volitile

either way it is an interesting leap forward in technology

mmm yes, that would give a larger threat for viruses when they eventually or if at all develop because the chip being on all the time would mean the viruses could take over the thing easier, unlike computers you need the blasted things being on to do any damage. ?? would that be the case ?

No, it is just another type of permanant storage, like hard drives and flash drives

looks good from the little info that it actually gives.
id say that the power usage of the chips must be minute which will be a huge plus for sff and portable.
dosent seem to have very high data density though. maybe thats why IBM havent released anything because i remember seeing something about it on slashdot ~2yrs ago. i wonder what sort of architechure changes would be need for a chipset to support this? or is it going to be compatable with DDR2/3 gear so that time to market will be decreased? and i doubt that apple is really interested except maybe for future portable components. apple would only look at it seriously if it had good performance and was supported be the system makers i.e. motarola, IBM, or intel.
maybe it could be used as an additional storage medium? like a sepperate hdd purely for the OS. then i think apple would eat it up.

anyway, many questions and few vague answers so far

Edit: heres some more info. some good reads but drawn out (IBM paper)
