DS lite is smaller/lighter and has a "brighter/better viewing angle" screen on it.

Other then that not much.

And what metric are you using to measure brightness?

My own personal experience shows the Lite to be a shitload brighter than the phat.

OP - Google for Cabel's review videos. Lots of comparisons.

after playing with a phat and a lite..

I've come to the conclusion that for metroid prime hunters the lite is too small .

If the lite screen was on the phat i'd get the phat

yeah the lite can change lcd brightess. generally the lite just looks better, is smaller and has a much superior screen. Dont even think about getting a DS fat anymore

why has nobody mentioned battery life? I've played my DS lite HEAPS and I havn't had to charge it once and it's not even looking to die, battery life has also been greatly improved. Definately another vote for DSL over DS.

would your old DS phat's battery have died in the same amount of play time?

my DS phat has a stellar battery too. only charged it twice since i got it, and managed to finish NSMB (excluding worlds 4 and 7) on that much power.

that said, my DS phat in uber cool and rare electric blue only cost $100 with screen protectors (a $15 expense that should be factored in on the cost of a lite), a bit more than half the price of a lite from most retaillers. if its worth that much more for apple-style looks and a brighter screen, at the cost of GBA carts hanging out the bottom like balls on a horse, so be it.

They both look cool. The lite's size difference was the main deciding factor in my purchase (: Oh, and the brightness.

I'm about to get one next week (DSlite that is), my only concern was that when i demod it at EB it didnt fit my hands properly, the buttons were a bit small, but that may have been due to the way it was attached to the game station. Or maybe i wasn't holding it properly. Is it comfortable after long periods of play?

I have no problems, and my hands are average-sized (i hope). I found that playing the DSLs at the Nintendo tour a week ago was quite hard because they were attached to the stands. I think you need to be able to set your wrists in your own way when you're playing - by having free control of the DS.
