Im looking at building a Dual AMD system, and need to know if Durons are SMP compatible. I was hopeing to get MP's, but being a school student I dont have the funds for MP's or XP's.
BTW, the mobo will be a Tyan Tiger.

The Durons will work fine in the Tyan TigerMP board. The only thing to check is if the SMP bridges have been cut, as it appears that AMD has started doing this with some XP chips, and this may also extend to their Duron range.
If you can stretch your budget to buying XP series processors, you will have much improved performance, due to the increased cache sizes. Perhaps you could investigate buying some XP1500+ or XP1600+ CPUs secondhand to keep your costs down. Also, when buying the TigerMP, look for a Rev1.03 or later board, as these support FSB overlcocking, which allows you to get a little more performance out of your CPUs.
