Default RAM for my Conore Setup.

Howdy.

I need a RAM after I canceled my G.Skill 2GBZX due to known issues.

It needs to be a PC-6400, 2GB and be able to hit at least 450MHz.

My mobo is DS3 and would like to keep the budget as low as possible.

thanx

Is there anything cheaper that can fit the bill? I'm in the same boat... C2D is just too good, but really stretches the budget.

I've been eyeing off the G.Skill PC-6400 ....2GBNS set, which comes in at about $100 cheaper... But if that limits the system to 400fsb when I could be getting 450fsb it's not really a saving over the cost of the system, I guess.

Trouble is, I'm risking getting shot by gf as it is... I only got away with 7900GT/512 purchase a few months back 'cos I spotted a secret $500 clothing purchase on her part

Not sure how I'm going to break this spend to her Luckily I manage our finances heh heh heh

sooo under the thumb by this ram you wan't regret it ever, really is too much better than anything else, and is the cheapest micron based ram you're going to find.

The thing is you spend an extra $100 on RAM and you save like $400 on CPU L

Heh, not exactly under the thumb - I'm figuring out the least painfull way to break my C2D duo spend to her, not how I'll convince her to 'let' me

Yup, that's how I'm slowly convincing myself. The tricky bit of the whole 'logic jump' is one of the ways I originally managed to mentally justify the somewhat more expensive (in terms of minimum spend) C2D over AM2 as AM2 was intolerant of value RAM for performance I'm pulling myself up by the heels. At least the expensive memory will lead to wonderfull places this way

Which, according to StaticICE is 370 from 'Maco Technology'... I've never used them though, and Computer Alliance has a OCAU forum special for 378 so I'm inclined to support our sponsor.

For the record Maco are fine. I bought my Tagan PSU off them a while back, they were the only staticice listed store selling Tagans at the time.
