Default Wheres the AM2 Overclocking rigs? need input

I've done a brief search and I haven’t seemed to found any Rig references that have AM2's being abused...

I built a 3500+ AM2 rig last week and didn’t get a chance to fiddle with overclocking, I may do it on the weekend... using an Asus M2N-E motherboard.
I'll be buying a 4200+ X2 + Asus M2N-E + crap loads of other things very soon...
The 411 is core2 I know... Before (if) I get flamed for getting AM2 over core2. I can't be bothered joining the dam queues pending for an E6600 and I saved over $550 without stressing out...

So point being, the system and soon to get system have DDR2 667Mhz CAS: 4 2X1G sticks.

1. Can I push the CPU which is 200 MHz up to the 333 MHz the ram is running at?

2. Since the RAM is running at a higher rate, does that mean there’s excess speed?

If anyone that has an Am2 setup overclocked can you please input the results...?

That’s it for now... Thanks! ~

I have an AM2 x2 3800+ and an MSI K9N platinum.

Hasn't overclocked so well, not compared to the 939's anyway.

Right now running at 2300mhz, needs 1.4V to be stable though.

Hits ~51 degrees when folding so i'll be buying a new cooler soon (probably the zalman 9500).

I reckon things are looking up in the future, assuming ATI's rd600 intel chipset is anything to go by. There's a preview from last week's ocau news page at tweaktown here that sounds promising.

Quote:
We played around with the FSB settings for a while and discovered that 420MHz x 6 (2.52GHz) was very stable, with the processor voltage at default.
Quote:
ATI designed the RD600 to handle very high memory frequencies with the CPU and memory running in an optimal performing 1:1 ratio. Imagine when retail motherboards come out, which should be able to run stable at around 450MHz (according to our friends in the know), and you’ve got a pretty kick ass gaming platform. Your $183 USD CPU is rocking along at around 2.7GHz and your more expensive memory running at around PC8500 speeds in 1:1 ration with tight timings. That is sure to make any overclocker grin along with the sales people at ATI who are looking very much like they have a real hardcore enthusiast chipset platform just ready and waiting to enter the market.
Since ATI's now part of AMD... you'd have to think their future AMD chipsets will be ball-tearers.

I've got a MSI NEO4 Platinum, its a great board and very rock solid.

Anyway as for AM2 OC the 3500 chip you already own can reach speeds of 2.9-3.0gig with some decent ram, gskill 6400HZ for example. Buy a good board, good ram and cut loose. Im keen to try the new abit mobo and some 6400HZ with either a 3500 or 3800 x2 until next years k8ls. The M2N-E is cheap and wont deliver.

is the M2N-E based on the nForce 570 chipset, if so they clock almost as well as the M2N32 which probably one of the best atm.

Yeh i would say its 570, they would clock real shiz, simply because they dont support ddr2 800 over 2volts its only 1.9 or something, aka 667 and below, so they would be ram limited.. you wont get any decent ocs with shitty limited ram speeds like that. Correct me if im wrong, thats what i have come to understand about that particular board. Anyone know when the new ati chipset will be out for am2??

Going off on a tangent here, but with intel's new chip having the edge over AMD, I reckon AMD should start unlocking their multipliers well just to make their product a bit more attractive again...

That is with a volt mod for the M2N-E. Max with latest bios for that board is 1.95V.

Yeh shame they dont fix this in a bios update, must be some serious issues with that board.. Tasty i think your board is 590 for starters, also how stable is it. Looks like a nice setup, one of the best alternatives to conroe at the moment. Sure would be nice if ATI got some boards out for AM2 using that 3200 express chipset, the ocs would be pretty huge by the sound of things.
