Default Searching for the ultimate PDA. Advice Appreciated.

Im after a pda that will allow me to stop carrying arroung my ipod, my portable hard-drive, my maps, my notepad, my mobile phone, laptop for email and internet and digital camera.

in other words, i need a pda or small tablet PC that has the following features:

* GPS
* Mobile Phone
* Wifi+GPRS for internet and email
* Video Playback (probably 400mhz cpu or more)
* Mp3 Player
* 40Gb-60Gb HDD
* Bluetooth for a bluetooth headset
* Camera (not essential)

If it can help me to stop carrying arround all this stuff, i'd be more that happy so price isnt a huge issue within reason.

Suggestions?

Had a look at the Sony VGN-UX50? Its got brilliant design, I absolutley love this little machine...but its too expensive and doesn't last long, battery wise. Also a new one with dual core is releasing soon i think. Still, this vould reduce ur iPod, portable HDD, Map, notepad and laptop as well, ooo, and a 1.3megapixel camera...in a very expensive package =D

Sometimes I wish I could design my own pda/tablet.

I just dont think the big companies know how to cater to the small niche that wants a futuristic all-in-one device.

02 Atom Exec has all the features you need, I have one and it does all those things superbly, it even makes decent phone calls! Only missing the hard-drive but my 2gb mini-sd fulfills my needs.

Alternatively you could go the HP 6828 but the Atom exec pips in terms of processor speed and rom size.

yea PDA's have a long way to go yet.
But mine currently sufices to all my needs, until something better comes along.
Eten m600+, 4Gb sd.
has:
quad gsm
2Mpixel camera
standard sdcard slot, so can in theory take up an 8gb sdcard
currently has over 100 books, full wikipedia, dictionaries, about 100 songs, my backup apps & documents.
BT & Wifi
only no gps(but can be done with BT GPS), but there is an eten with built in gps, but you loose 802.11

has everything you require apart from a 40Gb hdd, which there are several portable hdd's on the market with wifi/BT to connect your pda to on the go.

apart from the 02 or htc brand, you would be looking for a uPC or microPC and they are helleshly expensive. and usually dont have mobile phone built in.

good luck.

Sorry, but you won't find anything with all these options. You'll need to sacrifice something for something else.

For example, that Sony device does not have phone capabilities. Most PDA phones these days don't come with HDDs and are all flash based. Most PDA phones arn't over 400hz. I can only think of one PDA GSM Phone that's VGA and over 400mhz and it's a brick (The JasJar, or HTC Universal), and doesn't have a hard drive (but can take flash card expansions). Still, you could bludgeon someone to death with it so that can only be a bonus...?

Take a look at the Jammin (HTC Prophet) or Atom, which are the next step upgrade from the Jam/O2 XDAii Mini (HTC Magician) which has been a very popular PDA/phone (I have one too). They're smaller than normal PDAs (which you may find annoying for watching videos - I think it's fine) and the only thing you'll be missing is 40-60 gig HDD. I use my phone with a 2 gig SD card and software that turns the phone into a card reader so you can mount the card on any machine. I think you can get 4 gig SD cards now.

But yeah - wish list is nice, but (as far as I know) something with all that doesn't exist currently.

EDIT: I use a haxed BT stack on my Magician which gives me the A2DP profile - Audio over bluetooth. However it emulates the functionality in software, so if I'm using the phone, it gets jittery. Also, it can be a little jittery anyway. Ehh. I've upgraded to canal phones and haven't gone back.

With the exception of a 40GB - 60GB HDD. I think the HP iPaq 6965 has everything.

my Opinions:
"Thumb" keyboard = bad
1x1 screen (240x240) = bad
