price predictions for Geforce 8 models:

gefroce 8800 GTX will cost $1000
geforce 8800 GTS will cost $800

vendors like asus will slap an extra $200 onto theirs so expect asus'
to cost $1200 and $1000 respectively.

other ones will slap $50-$100 on them

msy will probably sell the GTX for about... $950 ... maybe $1000+

How long exactly is the G80? Longer than a 7800GTX?

Going on that photo, looks like it could be a squeeze for tightly packed cases.

Mighty interested in how much power these next gen cards are *actually* going to use.

I ask as there's about a poofteenth of fook all between my GTX PCIE power cable and the power cables of a couple of SATA drives directly in front of it.

Probably build a new machine for DX10/Vista anyway.

Ha, must not think of upgrade ... must not think of ........ upgrade ....

oh ferk me sideways

its not real...

it would say "tom clancy's ghost recon advanced warfighter" if it were the official PC version...

all images are fake... look closely at the colouring of the overlay graphic sitting on the fan block thats on the first image.
now compare it to the second image.
they're totally different.

also the PCB's in image 1 and 2 are TOTALLY DIFFERENT

these images are fake. how could anandtech post such bullshit? are they blind?
the power socket for the HSF is in different positions in image 1 and 2. The capacitors are also in different positions in image 1 and 2.
also the edge of the socket connector on the second is different from the first.

edit---
there is also another grating panel on the first than the four that is on the second.

Yes they do. I had seen it.

On the very first day when 7800GTX was released, they had in stock for $1200. Leadtek 7800GTX

i think all these "leaked" images are rubbish...

they say the PCB is going to big "bigger" but thats only because of some leaked reports and leaked images where they used an apple macintosh geforce graphics card which has this exact PCB length...

Remember first runs of 6800 and supposed support for video encoding on chip (think that's what it was ), how it was broken and only fixed with a second rev........yay for Nvidia
Video encoding was dumped entirely form the 6xxx series and the subsequent 7xxx series. ATI did the same with the X1xxx series also. It was unfortunate because it was used as quite a selling point for either companies cards. I don't think it will make a re-appearance for either for some time. We are getting there though, with folding clients available for ATI GPUs.

Guys, honest question here. No flamebait intended.

With all the hype surrounding the launch of the G80, I'm left wondering where the R600 lies? Especially when a coupla months ago all the hype seemed to say that it was going to be better than the G80???

Is the R600 now not going to be as good???
Released many months later???

Whats the deal? I havent heard anything about it yet!
