Question Interleaved Dual Channel

Just a quick question ppl.

I just put together a new pc:

. Intel core2 duo E6400
. Gigabyte GA 965P DS3
. 4GB pc2-5400 (667) (4 modules using ALL 4 slots)
. Leadtek 7600GT
. 2x Seagate 320GB sataII HDD's
. Pioneer DVR-111D

and i noticed when it starts up (POST) it says that that memory is running 'interleaved dual channel' or something like that. Is this a good or bad thing? What does it mean in comparison to running dual channel non-interleaved?

thanks in advance

interleaving is splitting access across banks of memory (a double sided stick of ram has 2 banks, so itll access both sides at the same time), dual channel is well, dual channel...i didnt know you could interleave and dual channel at the same time... oh well, good stuff ^^

Dual channel (Interleaved) mode. This mode offers the highest throughput for real world applications. Dual channel mode is enabled when the installed memory capacities of both DIMM channels are equal. Technology and device width can vary from one channel to the other but the installed memory capacity for each channel must be equal. If different speed DIMMs are used between channels, the slowest memory timing will be used.

I was wondering what that was. I took of it being "dual channel" as all I needed to know.
