Basically I was given an old laptop a while back, but without a power adapter.
I've seached the net, and found out it needs a 15-17Vdc, 3.36A supply, but I don't have one with a high enough current. What I do have is a 19Vdc, 3.42A supply. Will the extra 2 volts kill the laptop, or does the internal regulation have a large enough operating voltage window? |

It prob wont kill it but wont be good for it, may even overheat and break down in the future, better to be lower voltage and current then above specidifed

I accidentally plugged a 15 volt PSU into a JVC 17" LCD that required 12 volts... and it's still working. Was running for about three days straight before I clicked (went to plug the other thing in).
Only one way to find out! It's not like you paid anything for it. |

Thanks for the advice guys... if I can't find an adapter from anyone at uni today, I'll modify the plug and test out the 19V supply.
