Default V1J-AK027P

Asus 'sells' two models of V1 in Australia: the 024P and the 027P. The 024 has a T5600, 1GB ram, 80GB HDD and so forth, while the 027 has a T7600, 2GB, and a 120GB. The price difference between the two was only around ~400, making the 027P a fantastic bargain for the specs, and up until a few days ago, several retailers stocked the 027P.

All of the retailers which carried it have now removed it from their sites and only the 024P can be bought now in Australia it seems. I sent an e-mail to IT national, and they responded that

Quote:
The ASUS V1J-AK027P is a 'retail' model which we are not able to supply,
which is why you can't find it on the web. It was listed on our website, but
I removed this yesterday as we are unable to supply it.
I took that to mean that it is a model which is exclusively sold in physical retail stores. Could anyone else shed some light on what exactly was meant or any way that I can get my hands on the 027P instead of its crippled sibling?

Google cache of the AK027P specs:

I contacted another on-line store, which confirmed it. The AK027P is only sold at the retailers, although I have tried a few and none seem to stock it

I think it is more to give it exclusively too major chain stores like harvey norman etc. Hp and other brands do this with some models already.

Having said that I have sold one and I think it would depend on who your re seller is buying the notebook from. Not all the disti's are as picky if you have a good relationship with them.
