yah, 1000s win hands down. Just look at most club setups for an idea of what people think are good

i used dns-3000's for 2 years till they got flogged, then i got 1000's, i now cringe every time i play on denons, they are a great player, great features and technically sound, but cdj-1000's are simpler and easier to use, better layout and more user friendly, big chunky buttons, clearer lcd's and simpler/larger layout while using in minimal light conditions is a massive plus.

The button pitch bending was a little fiddly on the dns's, i dont know how they are on the 3500's but they would be a pain in the ass on the 3000's as the pitch was too "loose" to ride very well.

fire away if you have any questions on specifics you want to know.

Hmm.. thanks for the comments so far guys.

The general concensus i have been getting (aside from the denondj forums.. go figure) is that the 1000's are the go.

I have a denon 1500 mixer at the moment though, any great benefit to be gained from swapping that out for a djm 800 if i end up going down the 1000 path?

Oh, i'm not looking to play in clubs or anything by the way.. we just do it for shits and giggles and to play our mates house parties etc..

At the end of the day the mixer is a different story. Each item should be looked at separately. I don't know specifically regarding the mixers you are looking at but personally i dont think that just because you have Pioneer djm's you would benefit from a pioneer mixer. So just compare both mixers by reviews and user opinions and decide.

Bwahaha, I just went to download your mix and megaupload's 3 chararcters were POO and then I pressed the wrong button and tried to dl again and the characters this time were SUX lol. I hope this is no indication of the mix! I'm sure it isn't

Never used the denons before but the platter on the 1000's were pretty shit imo. Didn't feel that good. But the functions were pretty intuitive i guess.

I prefer the 3500s myself, but thats because I am a dnb/hiphop dj, and I skratch and juggle, and having the spinning platter makes it easer to do so.

Same. I can use Denon's no worries but I much prefer Pioneer CD decks.

Ended up picking up Traktor Scratch a few weeks ago.

Only complaint is the key lock is craptacular atm.

Thanks for the replies guys..

Will drop by Kosmic or somewhere on the way back from picking my car up this arvo and have a play, possibly give a couple mk3's a new home.

EDIT: back and my car is running.. w00t.

Also dropped past Kosmic in Osborne Park, had a play, very intuitive.. i like them. Although they want $1950 a piece. Dj Factory in Northbridge will do them for $1750 each cash. Just need to flip a coin now..

I picked up a Vestax VCI-100 today if anyone wants to know anything about it. Also since I seem to get the most demo downloads from this thread, so here's my newest:

Trancend September 2007 Demo - 104mb 75min Site Post

Marcus Schulz - Fly To Colours (Original Mix)
Sander Van Doorn - Riff (Original Mix)
Tiesto - Break My Fall (Richard Durand Remix)
Marcus Schössow - Mr White
Purple Mood - One Night in Tokyo (DJ Shah Savannah Mix)
Tom Cloud ft. Tiff Lacey - Secretly (Dub Mix)
Solarsun - Overjoyed (Original Mix)
DJ Spoke - Watch Them Fall Down (Ali Wilson Tekelek Mix)
Tranquility Base - Oceanic (Original Mix)
Breakfast - The Sunlight
Simon Patterson - Bulldozer
DJ Spoke - Watch Them Fall Down (DJ Choose Instrumental Mix)

The demo is my preferred style - starts out with some slower heavier sounding synths, then eases into the progressive, before heading into the trance and ending with some tech

This demo was the first one to be made on what I am calling the Xone:800 or the DJM-92 It's pretty much the full Pioneer setup but with an A&H VF-1 equivalent emulated in software (Traktor 3 Studio) controlled by MIDI on the DJM. Here's a pic:
