hmm, I've got a TRUE Black coming in (hopefully) tommorow, with a CoolerMaster 90CFM fan alongside.
after doing some research, I figured it was the best. and a fair bit cheaper than a V10. made the right choice? |

maybe someone in here can help me as i'm not having any luck in any other section of the forum...
i need a 120x25mm fan for the prolimatech megahalems i'm planning on getting... now from what i've been reading my options seem to be... Noctua NF-P12 Scythe S-FLEX (i'm thinking either 1600 or 1900rpm) Scythe SlipStream (1200 or 1900rpm) Delta AFB1212SH-PWM they are the ones i've "narrowed" it down to... i really can't decide! i was originally going to go 2 Noctua's on a TRUE black... but i think the Megahalems will perform better from what i've been reading and i can get away with just 1 fan... thoughts? comments? PLEASE HELP ME!

Few things you need to tell us first
Is excess noise a worry? Can you case fit a full size heatsink? Are you prepared to take your computer outside of the case to install a backplate? I havent used the Megahalems before so I cant comment on the performance The Noctua and the True 120 are just all around great CPU coolers Perfect design and can fit 2x120mm fans I prefer the Noctua over the True 120 because: The Noctua comes with 2x120mm fans of great quality, compared to none with the True The installation was quite simpler At the moment there are a few obvious choices for the 120mm fans; Delta range (Performance) Noctua range (Silent/Performance) Scythe, depending on the model - you can go from very silent to very loud Gentle Typhoon 500RPM or the Split Stream 500RPM (silent) Ultra Kaze 3000RPM (loud) If I was you, without knowing what you are aiming for: I would choose this

its in a antec twelve hundred case... so i'm fairly sure size isn't a problem no prob taking the mobo out the megahalems performs slightly better for less cost then the TRUE (its made by ex thermalright engineers or something)... the noctua doesn't perform as well from what i've seen so i haven't considered it... i'm wanting a TRUE or the Megahalems (i've narrowed it down to those)... the reason i'm favouring the megahalems over the TRUE - cost and from what i've seen TRUE's only perform really well when lapped, the megahalems doesn't need to be lapped and its actually recommended NOT to... at the end of the day it also comes down to what fan u put on these things... i am hoping to push my 920 fairly hard... so whatever i need to keep the temps down is what i'll live with... i think i've wiped the delta from my list... as i heard it on a youtube vid (i kno thats not the best way to hear a fan) and i have to say it makes a very unique noise! lol will the ultra kaze fit on the TRUE black's clips? as it recommends 25mm, but the kaze is 38mm... i have considered 2 ultra kaze 3000rpm's for the TRUE with a fan controller keeping things under control another fan thats grabbed my attention is the Yate Loon D12SH... however getting my hands on one or two of these is going to prove a problem it seems... PC Case Gear only seem to sell the mid range model at the moment and another site has no stock ![]() i do have in my head what i'd like to achieve after reading peoples results... its just that most the results i've seen are from american sites and they can get a couple things we can't (well not easily) cheers

any fan will fit on (120mm) because it uses the holes that are closest to the hsf,

Seems like they are going with a down draft air flow heat sink, Cogage (Thermalright) MST-140:

Hey Guy's
I'm building a new system and was looking at either the Ultra 120 Extreme, Prolimatech Megahalems or the Xigmatek Thor’s Hammer. The 120's a proven performer, that's a given The Pro Meg is designed by former 120 folks, and comes highly recommended And lastly the Hammer, which may be the best if your doing some serious oc'ing and want to stick with air Source : http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...=285&Itemid=62 So my question is......does anyone out there have any experience with the 2 noobs on the market???
