Default G.Skill DDR500 game lag when running 1:1

I have a DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR Expert motherboard (nforce4) and G.Skill DDR500 (DDR1), I have my FSB set to 250MHz and ram set to 9/10 & 3-4-4-8 (which is ~225Mhz) and my computer runs games fine, but when I set the ram to 1:1 (250Mhz, which the ram is rated at) I get lag in games, BF2 for example every 2 mins the game completely freezes up for 2-5 seconds then goes back to normal, Gothic II just freezes up for 2 minutes computer unresponsive, then back to normal.

The recommended max voltage is 2.8v which I set.. i'm not sure what to do. I have run memtest86+ today for 26mins at 1:1 (250MHz) and it passed no problem.. its just games I seem to have problems with.
