Default Fsb 1066 -2 x 533Mhz or 2 x 800Mhz?

I have on asbestos undies so flame away as I realise I am an ignoramus with computer tech but I am trying to learn.
What is the idea with conroe and its 1066 fsb and then putting non synchronous ram in? I have had my old P4 o/c at 20% for years but never touched the ram and actually picked my overclock to match the 400 speed in the bios cause it just seemed neater than 411 or something. Could any of you lead me to a link or explain the principles because I want to build a new system on the E6600 and am mightily confused on the memory front. I have tried and find stuff but I am struggling, all I have been able to work out so far is that G Skill PC6400 seems to be the most recommended but that is for overclocking and I don't know how to do that with ram. The cpu was easy, just type in a few numbers till you hit the sweet spot but this seems a bit more involved. I have tentatively picked out the new Abit AW9 mobo as it seems pretty modestly priced but I don't know if it will be my final choice as I am not buying anyything till I get my head around this Ram issue(learning curve) Any and all advice will be gratefully recieved.
