Default Different CC's = Different Inverters?

Hey all,

I've had a couple of dead inverters on my Cold Cathodes inside my PC. Could that be because the bits and pieces were from different kits? i.e. I bought 2x green sets and used 1x inverter from another set (Different brand, Red IIRC) because the wiring and inverter were neater from the red one. They've worked for ~6 months on each inverter (2 have died), then pop, just one day they refuse to work. All of the plugs matched, i.e. the 2x green ones plugged into the red one's inverter fine (had 2 sockets for the cathodes themselves)

I've bought another green set (ANOTHER brand :P ), and was wondering if I could use 1 of the other green ones I've got on it (I like to have 2). If there's a chance that the different tube could somehow kill my inverter again, I'll just buy another green tube of the same brand.

Cheers,
David

Should work, I have lots of different coloured CCFL's and they all use the same type of inverter.

Hmm, wonder why my inverters keep dying then. It's definately the inverter, last time I plugged in another inverter and I was away. There's nothing wierd with my PSU, and I can't find anything else that would be amiss. The inverters don't smell funny, and there's no burnt tracks on the PCB or anything like that. What about airflow? Do I need to keep them cool? They're just velcro'd to the bottom of my case hidden under my sound card.

Are you using inverters designed for 10cm tubes with larger tubes?

No, everything I've got is the same size, big ones, like 25cm or something like that.
