Default Anyone else bored of 3D console games?

Am I the only one who is bored of yet another 3D console game? Most of them are pants. In reality, I only need one driving game, and I've yet to see a 3D fighter that competes with games like Streetfighter.

So when I was catching a plane yesterday and needed a book, I instead got tempted to buy a Nintendo Micro (Gameboy Advance) along with a RPG game Phantasy something. Wow.. what fun.. I just love the art work of the characters and everything.

This then reminded me of a RPG I had played years ago on Sega Saturn (the last king of 2D). Am I the only one who would love to see a 2D console re-invented? Lots of sprites and effects and absoloutely zero rendering?

Maybe we'd get another version of R-Type

Daniel.

agreed, the old 2d fighters are 100 times better

What I have always wanted was another Metroid game like Super Metroid, but a MASSIVE 2d game

Well, thats a usefull comment *cough*. My point was.. imagine if 2D consoles had kept developing and we had a 2006 2D console.. it would certainly be a different beast to a MegaDrive...

Daniel.

PS. Youll be able to buy Megadrive games for the Wii if you just want retro games.

I'm sick to death of 3D platform games...in my mind platform games were meant to be in 2D like the old skool Mario, Sonic games etc

I urge any PSP owners to check out Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins as that game is the shit

Castlevania is still around and going strong...just stick with GBA/DS games as there are still some good 2D games on those platforms.

I was going to say the same thing. The second Castlevania game on DS is going to be released soon. The first one was great and i think this one could be even better!

Tekken is a 3d fighter and i realy like it, also games such as Naruto, DBZ and Bleach are 3d fighters and they are actualy well made games, they dont need all the skill of fighters like Tekken but they're easy to pick up and play.

However i would still love to have a new 2d console or just some more 2d games, the majority or 3d games that come out are just fluffy random crap. I think the game companies who make all those shitty games would be better to just make some good quality 2d games since it would be easier and cost alot less. But then I suppose for most it's just about releasing some pile of crap and hope that it sells so they can make some cash.
