I have x4 Karplusan forests (R/G) tournament edition. Cost me $5 each at the time. Because of 9th edition, they're only worth like $2 delivered

Hi,

If you live in Brisbane and are interested in Mtg you can play in the monthly Grand Melee hosted by the League of Extraordinary Gamers.

Entry fee is a booster pack. The winner on the day gets half the packs the other half go into a grand prize for December where everyone who played during the year gets a portion of the prize-pool.

If you drop in to our next meeting on the 17th October, the Grand Melee starts around 2.00pm and this month's theme is Halloween - the deck construction is vintage and restricted to red and/or black cards only.

That's a 4 turn win. There are numerous combinations that ensure 3 turn wins now. They're definitely not fun decks to play with and against. My friend's storm deck cost him over $150 and it is a chore to play against. My zombie deck only cost $50 and has 4 ways of winning. Great fun!

If by tournament edition you mean the gold-bordered ones, then they're actually worthless to players because they're illegal.

And revised duals are the ones I'm after anyway

(plus stuff like force of will, maze of ith, wasteland, mox diamond, etc)

Yes I know, but it's the only 1 turn win combination that I'm aware of.
I haven't played in over 10 years.

I still have a complete 4th edition collection somewhere as well. I wonder where that went.

My fave deck was goblin bidding, that was a desk that really pissed off anyone who couldn't understand stack mechanics.

I think that was the fastest kill deck in that era, had a 3 turn kill in it if you landed 3 goblin piledrivers out on turn 3, so it took a god hand but was hilarious if you pulled it off.

Have you got a list? I'll dig out some of my old folders.
I really enjoyed this game but they just kept changing everything so fast and making the metagame simpler.

Me too. I want to play but it's annoying buying new cards all the time because it's not longer allowed in this standard format....

Especially with the recent inclusion of mythic rares. I heard that good cards at mythic rarity can go for over $50 each.

There's always casual, extended, the eternal formats and stuff like EDH that don't require you to constantly buy new cards.

Mythic Rares aren't actually any rarer than ordinary rares were in the older sets, they occasionally go for stupid prices because they are iconic or above the power curve, but thats nothing new (see goyf, power 9 etc)
