hah I think something went wrong. As my gf's connection is quick, but certainly not that fast. Also i'm not over 1000km from the server, weird.

In what sense? Having wireless broadband or sharing your connection via wireless? If the wireless link is slower than your connection then yes it will.

Well with my network I am a bit far from my wireless router (it is also in a bad place). Even tho it says Speed: 5.5Mbps, it creates a bottleneck in the connection which should be 1.5Mbps.
