3 year warranty? I haven't heard of this..

I know there's an extended warranty you can purchase for $85 which covers the 360 for 2 years all up.

You may have mistaken it for 1 year warranty (The normal Microsoft Xbox 360 warranty) + 2 years of EB warranty...when in fact it's actually 2 years combined warranty: 1 year MS + 1 year EB.

Anyways, I'm guessing it depends on how lucky you are. I.e. Depends on whoever serves you at the time..because only this week I took mine back to an EB games and they wouldn't touch it, even tho I had the 2 year (1 yr-MS + 1 yr-EB) warranty...as they said it was Microsoft's problem (being that it's still within the first year of purchase).

My point is, it sounds as though you have had your 360 replaced before and that EB clerk took it back no-problem, whereas the clerk who I spoke to wouldn't...it depends on who it is...maybe go back to the same person you spoke to and they'll do the same again?

I have a two year warrenty with EB games. I have opened my xbox to flash my drive. I returned it with no problems. mabye im lucky they did not check. I mean i dont think they have a meeting to make sure they check if its sealed. Also hardly any people would open it anyway.

yeah sorry i meant 2 year warranty, anyway i have returned it a couple of time and yeah they have never checked the seal, i just wanted some other peoples opinions because im thinking of upgrading the fans and adding some sexy lights, so yeah the guys at epping must really not give a dam about the seal.
thnx guys

Opening it then closing it again still standard is one thing, and if you're lucky they won't notice.. but changing fans and adding lights is just a WEE little bit of a giveaway that you've tinkered with it..

Also even if EB doesn't notice, if you're returning it for warranty-repairs as soon as it hits MS or the repair-center, they WILL notice and just return it back to you saying your warranty is void.

Considering the "reliability" of the 360 I wouldn't open, modify, or risk the warranty until the warranty runs out.. if it survives that long.

I have swapped mine a couple times lately, I am curious if I get the extra warranty, can I still return it and swap in store for an extra year?

I sent mine last Tuesday, received an email of confirmation they received it on Wendesday and I'm still waiting...does anyone know how long it should take?

So I guess it's longer than a week MagyaR...but I'd like to know just how long...cause I have Gears of War here..and I can't play it!!

Plus I plan on buying a few other games too (Viva Pinita and the Wireless Wheel Pack)...so I'm anxious to play.

If I called up MS would that hurry them up? I guess it wouldn't hurt to try?

Well mine is second hand, warranty is till April 07, I doubt that you can ring MS and hurry them up considering that the call centre is not even in Australia.

Too true, most likely it would be the mobo, which would take 2 seconds to replace.
