So I bought the Pirates Queen Anne ship online via BigW on Friday.
It arrived today but the box was damaged, it appeared to have been opened before and when I opened it half the baggies were missed

Much disappointment and waste of time.

Laziness I guess
Didn't want to spend an hour drive to the shops just for it when it was just $4 shipping online.
Never expected to get screwed over.

Just come back from Sydney. Went to the Aquarium and there were a few impressive Lego sculptures. Lego on the loose or something like that. Has anyone else seen them?

All fair enough. You just don't expect anyone in Sydney as a location to be an hour from a bigw. I'm roughly 20 minutes each way myself.

And yea, what you ended up with is very strange. I mean why would you get it in that condition? They should send you a new one without you needing to return the old one if it's definitely not a postage opening, but if it was first sent in that condition.

This has happened to me before too, but at a retail store. There was a set I really wanted which was out of production and it was the last one on the shelf. I was so happy that I found one that I guess I overlooked that the box was already opened and sealed with sticky tape. I probably thought that somebody bought it and opened it, then changed their mind and returned it.

When I got home I opened it and half the bags were missing. I returned it, told them what was wrong and asked for a replacement, but they said there were no more. I ended up buying the set from ebay for 1.5 times the retail price. oh and I returned to the store 2 weeks later and browsed the lego section. The exact same set I returned was back on the shelf and sealed with sticky tape...

Nowadays I play it safe and get sets which are guaranteed new and sealed. With new sets, you still run the risk of having a few pieces missing, but if you contact lego they will send you out replacement pieces for free

BTW does anybody happen to have any of the earlier modular buildings that they'd like to get go at only little more than the retail price?

earlier in the thread i asked if anybody remembered the old truck models. I found the 1990 catalog and referenced the set numbers. They were 5590 and 5580.

I also bought another supercar set to build it into the hot rod.

Lego fever has well and truly gripped me again..

Oh yea, saw that today too. Left it alone as starwars lego doesn't particularly excite me.

Be aware the sale / layby to christmas is on the 30th june.

My local bigw was moving all of their lego to another aisle and are double shelving it all so there is much more lego coming in.

BigW TTP had the Atlantis portal of atlantis set for $40 on deep clearance the other day... Hannah bought 6... (normally $160 from Myer, or $128 from bigW)

BigW seems to be hoarding Lego lately and selling them constantly with 20~25% off. It's great!
