i have to say the nunchuck feels quite cheap n shitty...
the wiimote (now that i have used it for a few hours) feels well made... his "poxy" comment could refer to that... or maybe just how its sooooo nintendo... the mii's and other things just has that big warm kiddy nintendo feel... u just gotta look past all that and u start to have fun with it... i still say the 360 leaves it for dead in many ways... but i'm not dissapointed... altho its very annoying my gf can beat me at some of the games (well only 1 really... fishing in wii play... she kicked my arse!)

Also they never seem to be able to backup their argument with good reasons.

I have one myself. Wii sports is a lot of fun. The success of the Wii will really come down to the games released for it. As far as the hardware and the software goes on release, Nintendo got as many things wrong as they got right with it's release.
What were they thinking when there is: - No CD/DVD playback - You need a different controller for every different format of game - You need to buy two parts to their standard controller - They did not include enough onboard memory - They didn't include/release first party rechargeable controller - They didn't allow the classic controller to be used as a standalone unit (ie has to be attached to wiimote) These are some of the issues I can think of off the top of my head (there are definately more, but it's 2am and I need sleep). I have had my Wii for 2 weeks and while it is great as a party game for when people come over, I would not even classify it as a serious games machine yet (waiting for the decent single player games, not a Zelda fan). I will probably trade it in for a PS3 next year after the first price drop or maybe keep it around as a second machine for party games when friends are over. I can understand why someone would call it poxy (while I don't completely agree with that sentiment), it is definately for a much more niche market than the PS3/Xbox360. How's that for reasoning Critical_Impact?

Just spent 4 hours playing Wii Sports tennis getting my pro points up
Was a good time of year to get the console. The past few days I've had family & friends of ages 5 to 70 having a go. Every single person has loved it. 4 players can get messy but is great fun. Once it has worn off for me, it's Zelda time

hobo-jo, i think you need to get over this whole classic controller thing. Whats wrong with it being connected to a Wii mote, it certainly makes it a whole buch cheaper to buy because of it anyway...

![]() It means for every classic controller you want you need a wiimote as well. They have made the classic controller 'dependant' on having the wiimote. Just another way for them to make you spend money on accessories you don't necessarily need. I'd rather pay an extra few $ for a classic controller and have it either connected to the box or have it's own bluetooth connection so it can be used independantly. |

Well, so far, all games on the vc are one or two players, i would take a guess and say that everyone that gets a wii will have at least to remotes. So what is the problem....

3 x $70 - Wiimotes 4 x $30 - Classic Controllers Grand total: $330 (maybe slightly less if they get items under RRP) That's a joke. I guess the alternative would be to buy GC controllers if they will work with the games... I'm not saying the Wii isn't a lot of fun (it's great), but it has some huge flaws (money making loopholes purposely put in there by Nintendo most likely). And it is ridiculous to expect that there won't be some people that want nothing to do with the console. Be open to discussion on the flaws. And yes I have dragged on the classic controller flaw, only because it has stung me personally. I will be calling Nintendo to discuss the refund on my purchase of DKC sometime this week (doesn't work with GC controller, when shop says it will). |

Yes the n64 4 player games will be a bummer if your friends that play with you dont own a wii themselves so they can bring there remotes with them. I agree with you that there is some good money making stuff going on with the product. Hopefully the remotes price will come down in time...
Also it is my understanding that GC controllers are only for GC games and anything else in the VC would be Classic contoller. That may not be they case, just my understanding. |

hmm... a lot of hate for the wii, and some semi valid reasons for it. but noone is forcing anyone to play multiplayer on VC games so
![]() anyhow, loving the wii, i've had lots of ppl play mine, like has been said, from young to old, and they all agree it is simple and fun. games like wii sports, wii play, rayman raving rabbits and monkey ball are fantastic for groups. your stoner/hardcore gamers can still have their PSs and XBOXen for their massive gaming sessions, but this has opened up gaming for a whole new audience that would never have gamed before, much like the DS did. at least three people that have seen my wii are getting one. it's the best viral campaign ever - touch it and be addicted. Yes, Nintendo will make a fortune from this, especially from extra controllers. I know very few ppl that have bought four controllers for a PS or XBOX but plenty will for the Wii - and nintendo aren't losing money on the wii console! Nintendo are marketing geniuses. remember the old days? nintendo and sega were the big dogs - well Sega gave up, and Sony and MS joined the fray. these days, nintendo sells sega stuff, which should be a big warning to the Big Two.

exactly, no one is forcing you to buy these extra controls, they are for extra features
If you want to play nes, snes, md, sms, 64 etc games you cant just expect to play them with a wii-mote, and many wouldnt be ideal with a GC controller. secondly, you cant expect to play gc games out of the box as well, sometimes you do have to pay for some things, and to anyone who had a cube you are rewarded, I think thats fair. |

Me and my mate were buying GC games, Wavebird controllers, all before the wii came out. Then when it came out, got extra wiimote/nunchuck, and the classic controller.
No complaints here. |
