Not sure if this belongs here - does shooting gear count as 'other toys'?
But anyway - does anyone know the price of ammo in QLD? Or have links to a good site that lists it? Specifically .22 rimfire, but centre-fire prices would be good too - .303 British, .223 Remington, etc. Thanks E |

Lapua .338 Magnum.
Rimfire is cheap of course. Centerfire military .223/.308 isn't bad esp. surplus military shit. You need a license per calibre. Yes very annoying... You should call a gun store and find out. T. |

my friend was talking to a guy out at the range 1 day who is in the army and he was talking about the armys new sniper rifle which i think is that bigass berret? its like 1m long and is accurate to 3kms...also...you are not allowed to fire this rifle at infantry as stated in the rules of engagement...it's 4 shooting thru tanks and what not apparently.

Thanks Gatecrasher!
Rimfire in the US is US$1.05 per 50!! BTW that rifle Sw1tch is talking about: I know of the weapon. It's a .50 BMG semi-auto, accurate to over 3 miles. The SAS is currently being a bit frantic about them, because the IRA is said to have a couple. With the current zero-tolerance for terrorism, post 11/9, they haven't used them yet, but they probably will. I'll stick with my .22 rimfire! Cheers, E |

Pretty easy actually. Yellow card. You can return fire if fired upon, or fire to protect yourself and others. No attack without warning the enemy that you will. Red card. Same as yellow, but if you can shoot the pricks without warning them.

I beleive you're thinking of the geneva conventions. I know that also outlaws shotguns, and shotgun-style pellet rounds for artillery that they used to use in emplacement defense
YOu can imagine the effect of an artillery sized shotgun shell....

50 cal machine guns are quite fine for shooting at infantry. Why would a 50 cal sniper rifle be considered any different?
The Yanks used Barretts to great effect on Iraqui tank commanders. They also used scopes on 50 cal BMG's during Vietnam to snipe at VC up to two miles away. Don't take everything told to you by Army Personnel as being gospel.
