Im looking at the Asus F3JV, it comes with 2 x 512MB DDR2 667mhz RAM. Im looking at putting more ram in but cant really afford an extra two 1GB sticks. If i leave one 512MB in and change one to a 1GB, both 667mhz with it just run in single channel mode? I suspect it will right?
One thing i worry about is if the timings on the ram is different, would this cause a problem or will it just run at the lowest compatible setting??? Will there be any performance drop?? Im going to be doing hi res photo editing and some video encoding. Im thinking there wont be as the FSB is already saturated as per the desktop versions, correct? Thanks in advance. -Daniel |

- Will more then likely run in single channel mode. It is the rare combo that would handle that in DC.
- Will run at lower compatibility setting. - There will be a performance drop, but more then likely, not one you'd notice doing the things you mentioned. |
