Default Compaq V3118AU

Well my shithouse old acer laptop is due for an upgrade. I've been looking for something cheap yet pretty quick for basic stuff, word/internet/email/wmp all at the same time, and basic graphics for a bit of TMNations when i'm bored. Decent battery life is a bonus, but >2hrs should be plenty. No need for hardcore gaming in a laptop imo, thats what desktops are for.

Was in Harvey Norman today, with no intention of buying there, and i saw this little machine.

They wanted $1500, which i thought was pretty good, for dual core, 60gb drive, 14" etc. The touchpad seemed good, not like a couple of the LG's i played with on work experience. The buttons below the touchpad seemed really soft to touch, they were silent, and they didn't actually 'click' like my acer which gets annoying. The keyboard seemed fine and the screen was nice and bright even on lower settings. It had the gloss finish which i don't usually like but i guess i'll have to live with it. I have seen very few matte screens recently.

Just got home, and there is very little around the place about it, except for the actual HP site, and a small thread on WP. Found it on the DSE website for $1299, which is very surprising, even though we all now HN's are a ripoff.

Imo it's extremely good value for money, and will probably grab one from DSE early this week. Has anyone got one, used one or have any useful information of opinions? If so please post.

Thanks.

Ok, just bought it this afternoon, and i'm rather pleased with it. Touchpad will take a bit of getting used too but that ain't real bad.

And DSE are awesome. Knocked $100 of the price without blinking, and threw in some blank DVD's.
