Default Amfibius Xmas party (56k = ouch)

Well last week I had a whole bunch of people over from work. Party started at 2pm, and the last guest left at midnight. This was the menu:

- Turkey with Grand Marnier stuffing and Grand Marnier gravy
- Christmas ham with a maple syrup glaze
- Garlic-butter prawns on the barbie
- Jansson's temptation (potato batonettes with anchovies in a gratin)
- Caesar salad
- Tomato-avocado salad
- Mushrooms with Cinzano
- Pavlova with fresh berries and vanilla ice cream flambe'd with rum
- Cherries

Here are the pictures:

The ham fresh from the oven, about to be dressed

The turkey fresh from the Weber

Some of the finished dishes

Berry pavlova

Tiger prawns

The ham, dressed with glace cherries ready to be carved.

Maybe they came prepared if the night got hot and steamy!!

I also second the ham..
did you just dilute the maple syrup down a little?

Er, the ham was really simple.

Ingredients
1x precooked leg of ham (I got Bertolucci hickory smoked ham)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/8 cup white wine vinegar
1/8 cup white wine
2 tbsp seeded mustard
cloves

Method
- Preheat oven to 200C
- Mix all the glaze ingredients together
- Skin the ham: round incision around the shank, then longitudinal incision along the non-presentation side of the ham. Ease the skin off with your fingers. Save the skin to protect your turkey. Make sure you leave the fat on the ham.
- Score diagonal lines along the ham, then cross-hatch to produce a diamond pattern
- Glaze the ham with the glaze mixture with a pastry brush
- Push the cloves into the ham
- Place in oven for 30 minutes or until the glaze turns golden
- Remove and allow to cool to room temperature, serve.

Er, there is nothing to the ham. You only need to buy a very high quality ham. As you can tell from the recipe, I did nothing to it besides make it look pretty.

I think I recognise some of your guests

Btw, that is a very nice looking cutting board. May I ask where you got it from?

Well, the Asian guy in blue is either a family friends' son that I've not seen for a long time, or a person which I've seen on numerous occasions at Melb Uni CSSE dept (they could, in fact, be the same person for all I know). The girl below that I'm fairly certain I've seen around Uni as well.

Looks like I'll head to DJs soon, might make a nice present

Hmmm wasn't expecting that.

Well I've definitely seen you at ICT MelbUni Building. Are you a postgrad?
And the million dollar question, is your name Harry/Henry?

EDIT: and to keep things ontopic, the ham looks good but I really dislike glacé cherries.
