I've got a notebook that I want to put up on ebay. Just wondering how I can pack it, ready to be shipped. I originally bought it secondhand, so don't have any boxes, just the notebook, disks and A/C adaptor.

One important note: take the battery out of the notebook for delivery. |

How about layers and layers of bubble wrap about the system unit, the same around the adaptor, and then the battery. Then have padding around each item, and surrounding the box.

I've once packed a notebook inside a carrybag, then wrapped it before placing it in a box. It survived the overseas trip. Nothing beats the factory box, but unfortunately you don't have it while obtained the unit. P.S. So how was the unit delived to you when you bought it? If you can recall, do the same packing? |

Bought locally, so no boxes.

You should send it via courier too if possible. Aust. Post suck at handling larger items. Actually they suck at every parcel they handle, but they're cheap. Anyway... seriously though, you should consider courier. Much safer.

You will need to make sure the screen doesnt have any pressure from outside or from items inside the box. You dont want a cracked screen.
Get a good strong cardboard box to post it in. You could ask a computer shop nicely for a laptop box. I used to sell laptops in other laptop boxes, most of these assume the screen size is the same will fit, and will protect the laptop very well.

I'll see if I can dig up my old ibook box; failing that, is the following OK?
Battery - remove from the system unit, then wrap with bubble wrap System - layer of bubble wrap inside to protect the screen, then several around the unit itself Box - PLENTY of padding around sides, filling in gaps etc....

same box for two return trips, nary a problem - theses things are designed to handle a bit of biff - just make sure it is labelled fragile and get insurance (then you can't lose whatever) |
