Default damaged Dell i9300 - power input socket - repairable?

Hi, looking for some advice.
my laptop power supply - the cable end dislodged in the power supply socket on the laptop.

tried to remove it with pliers but seems to have stuffed it more.

anyone know if its a simple repair and they can replace the socket and i can just buy a new charger.

I reckon it should be able to be repaired by someone who knows what there doing....i wouldn't go throwing away a perfectly good laptop.

I had a problem similar to this. Over time the power socket got so loose that I had to replace it.

I removed the mobo from the chasis, unsoldered the socket and replaced it with a new one from jcar. Total cost was $2.65.

This isn't something you can do yourself if you have no experience with electronics/soldering though.

I repaired a dell laptop 1300 with a dead headphone socket. I couldnt source a replacement so I replaced the mic one with the headphone socket.

The dell 9300 has a 3 prong socket. I might be very difficult to get another one to replace it. The adapter has two for power and one for signal. It can tell a valid adapter and the power type. I assume this is the reason you cant get third party power adapters for these dell laptops.

found this site that sells power jacks for laptops

and this particular one - http://www.laptopjacks.com/view_part.php?id=DL111500

So if i bought one of these i could just solder onto the mainboard and she should be sweet to go yeah?

That is what you need, but make sure you are good with soldering, or get someone who is.
