I've had my first taste of this stuff recently and I absolutely love it for fairly cheap sort of bottle. Was wondering if anyone can suggest others similar tasting to try around a similar price that I might like? I'm also quite fond of Bulliet which is also about the same price.
Thanks a lot and happy new year! |

Ahh, i found Makers Mark so bland yet overpowering.
Nevermind, for around the $50 mark i would have to recommend Jim Beam Small Batch. Ultra smooth.

Or drink like a man. My local bottlo had lowish-end single malts (glenfiddich or glenlivet) for $38 a bottle.
I'd take these any day over most bourbons under $80 a bottle. |

Yeah I had quite a few single malt glenlivet's last night as a mate bought a bottle, I prefered the makers though.
Still very nice |

Single malt Scotch whilst good is still scotch(not burbon)different taste
other than that the suggestion of the beam small batch is a good one or I would be inclined to get an Irish whiskey

Why are you guys suggesting Scotch when he is after a bourbon?
Jack Daniels is fine enough for me. I love Makers Mark as well but went for the cheaper bottle of JD.

Jack Daniels - Gentleman Jack. A very pleasant surprise after drinking the poison that is JD, and indeed a very nice alternative to Makers Mark.

makers mark... love the stuff, but being a poor student dont very often get to purchase a bottle.
im not that big a spirits man, but i also enjoy wild turkey rarebreed, but that is usually a bit more than makers, so not really that helpful. dont compare it to normal wild turkey, or even the aged 12 years (or whatever it is)... its so much nicer. not a fan of turkey normally, but i really do enjoy rarebreed.

Jack Daniels is awesome to drink if you don't like hangovers. Recovery from half a bottle is remarkable easy. I have tried just about everything in the JD range. Regular, Gentleman, Single Barrel and 1905. I was most dissapointed with the Single Barrel. It was way too strong and weak on taste.
On the cheap side there is Kentucky Gold. It's a Coles/Liquorland only product. Head over to First Choice and it can be had for 25 bucks. It's better than Beam too, but what isn't? The Cougar Premium (I forget the name) is a decent bourbon too. It is quite tasty and the hangover was resonable after half a bottle. From memory it is the 40-45 range. Make sure you try the Jameson's Irish Whiskey too. It's more like a bourbon than a Scotch. They do a Gold as well, which is excellent. The regular is about 30-35 bucks and the Gold is 50 bucks+. Regular Beam is shit. Their small batch collection on the other hand is fantastic. I spent christmas a few years ago with 6 bottles of Basil Hayden and had the best time ever. The drinking was good too. It's quite sweet and drinks real easy. Knob Creek was good too, but it was a good 6 years since I've had it.
