I'm just wondering whether people take the stickers off their laptop. I'm talking about the OS sticker, the Graphics card sticker, and the Processor sticker, usually in the front right corner of the unit.
With my old laptop i left the stickers on the whole time i owned it which was over 2yrs. They remained in tact for the mostly, but the ATI sticker got a big damaged on the side closest to the touch pad. I've always liked the look of them. But has anyone left them on at first and then taken them off down the track and it's left a mark from where the sticker has protected the case, and it's still new under it? That's really what i'm worried about, if the stickers get ratty on my new lappy, and i need to take them off. Also just curious as to people's preference. Holler. PS. My mum's lappy has 2 big stickers covering most of either side of the touch pad with some specs of the laptop, and she's left them on.

I leave them on but when they get really tatty I remove them and then use some turps or something to get rid of the glue.

I didn't have an option, I had my touchpad replaced by Dell under warranty and they replaced the whole section of the casing around the touchpad and keyboard, and the new one had no stickers.

It wasn't a big enough deal breaker to care about a Centrino and a XP Home sticker.

telling people you are 'Designed for XP Home' sounds a little gay

I actually take them off, it looks cleaner and avoids me worrying about it when the stickers get tatty.

It's not really a fault as such, just regular wear and tear. Totally up to you with regards to if you want to leave them on or not, but yes, this can happen depending on the casing and if it's painted or not. Personally I remove the spec stickers, but leave the Intel and GeForce/ATi ones on. I like them

I remove the stickers as soon as I determine that the machine isn't faulty and I'm not returning it for refund. Like the LCD protector, they're stuck on there for display room purposes.
With Dell and Apple, I normally wait 14 days from the date I recieve the invoice before making cosmetic modifications to the machine, just in case they do one of those fantastic $1000 + 25% off deals or they release a new model.

Remove them. I think of em as a nos sticker is to a car adds weight and increases wind resistance. Why do I care if other people know/don't know what my laptop runs on?

Becuase my laptop was a barebone, all the stickers were loose in the box rather than being stuck to the laptop when I bought it. I just haven't bothered to apply most of them (except for the model/serial number ones on the bottom).

I going to leave them on for now, i like the look of them, and friends/family know what's under the hood, even though the OS sticker doesn't specifically say MCE, and the processor sticker only says CD not C2D, plus there's no GPU sticker.
They're not very large and not as in the way as my previous lappy. I didn't notice much wear on the palm rest except for slight fingernail abbrasion on the right hand side cause of using the touch pad. But i've got a BT mouse for my new lappy, so i wont have my hand on the palm rest anywhere near as much. I think clear sticker on the palm rest would be a good idea to protect it. That's basicly what my mum's laptop spec stickers are, just with the info on them.
