Default Laptop Processor Upgrade in Inspiron 9300?

Ok, this might be a stupid question...

I've got an Inspiron 9300, its getting a bit long in the tooth. I'm going to get some more RAM to put in it in the next few weeks (1Gb to 2Gb) however trawling ebay last night, i noticed that there are quite a few laptop processors for sale.

Is it possible to do a processor upgrade in a i9300?

It'll be possible to upgrade the CPU, but only with a Pentium-M Dothan (no Core Solo, Core Duo, or Core 2 Duo CPUs because they need a newer chipset).

largely a waste of time and money too

just say you have a 1.7 or 1.8 dothan

the last 2.0 dothan I saw went for $170 + shipping

that ain't a cost effective upgrade

There are honourable exceptions that prove this rule though. Sadly, this group now seems to be feeling pressure to change."
I drive a stock R33 non turbo automatic Skyline - 120kW at the wheels!

Overclock your CPU if you can, or downgrade and then overclock.

The 725, 735, 745, 755 etc (i.e 400MHz FPS Models) can be overclocked to 533MHz FSB so you'll get a 33% boost in performance by 'shorting' a few pins. There's a thread in www.notebookforums.com about it, but i can link it for you if you don't already know the procedure.
