Default Asus W3N

i currently own the W3N Asus laptop, have had it for over a year and so far it has been up to everything i have tried, been able to play battlefield 2142 on it up until recently when it decided to crash out on me whilst in the middle of the game.

the specs are:

Intel centrino 1.6Ghz
512 mb of ram
ati mobility radeon 9700

i know i can upgrade the ram, but can i upgrade the cpu. i would like to get a core 2 duo, without having to buy a new laptop?

If you've been able to play it up until now then it'd be a problem you have to fix rather than an upgrade you need to do.

The problems it's likely to be:
1) Software issue: try backing up your data then reinstalling windows
2) Faulty RAM. Run a memtest to find out.
3) Faulty hard drive. Run a seagate seatools diagnostic to find out.
4) overheating. Used compressed air to blow out any dust.

Of course, more RAM would also be great. Optimally add another gigabyte. If that's a bit pricy maybe add another 512mb.

Cheers

Daniel

The W3N only works with Pentium-M CPUs. It can't use Core Solos, Core Duos or Core 2 Duos because the chipset doesn't support them (and the socket is different too).
