Default Oven Dripping Black Stuff

We went to cook dinner tonight and got the oven preheated. Opened it up and smoke came billowing out and we noticed burning black stuff on the bottom. We let it cool down, cleaned it all out and tried again, and now we can see the black stuff dripping down from the top of the oven. It's some sort of black liquid, like oil ... anyone know what's wrong with it?

Sounds nasty... dont know what it is... could it be that someone spilt something on the stove and it's dripping down into the oven?

Just grime.

When was the last time you cleaned your oven????

It wasn't anything spilt because it was coming out of the top of it, inside, and it's a side oven mounted in the wall (the stove is on the other side of the kitchen). It eventually stopped so we could get some cooking done but yeah, it looked a bit grimey up there. It's only really been cleaned on the bottom and sides, so the top will be scrubbed out tomorrow.

I would say something splattered up onto the top last time you cooked. No biggie but dont neglect the top of your oven when cleaning.

The aliens have taken over - the only way to kill them is with lashings of oven cleaner. But then by the sounds of your kitchen high explosives might be more effective. Out of interest - when was the last time you did the dishes....
