Default RedOak Christmass Cheer

G'day,

Had a RedOak "Christmas Cheer" stout the other week which I thoroughly enjoyed. I understand that this is a seasonal brew which they only make in limited quantities.

Is anyone aware of a similar stout which is produced year round? I would really like to make the consumption of this kind of brew a more regular event.

What did it taste like? A sweet stout? Dry? Extra strong?
I haven't tasted it.

It tastes like xmas cake It has no bitterness to it whatsoever, has a slight fruity flavour towards the end

from the site:

"The Christmas Cheer is a rich, full-bodied dark ale with the delicious fruity ingredients of our Grandmother’s Christmas pudding and a pleasing aroma. The rich fruity and spicy notes are from cinnamon and nutmeg producing a port and brandy nose. This is a beer that has to be tasted to be believed with its complex flavours and aromas which are enhanced as it warms up."

While they won't be exactly the same, due to a lack of roasted barley traditionally in stout, try some Belgian Strong Dark Ale like Chimay Bleue or Gulden Draak, Rochefort 10, Rochefort 8 etc. They have fruit and spice notes.

Xmas Cheers is a lovely stout to finish a meal with. When I tried it at a Redoak tasting night they said it's a stout which has had the fruits from an Xmas pudding in the brew while it was fermenting.
