Default Frilled shark

Perhaps this is the right forum to place this but I just wanted to bring to the attention of those that had never seen one of these like me, this specimine of Frilled Shark caught on film. They say it hasn't changed since prehistoric times. Truly a bizzare creature indeed.

Here is.

Cool. Pretty silly they would think it would survive in hardly any presure. These things are used to so much presure birning them to the surface would be like *thinks* Streching all its organs. Putting shit loads of strain on them ect.

For god's sake man, stop thinking with your stomach and help me and noboundaries-au drain the oceans so we can see what else is wriggling down there!

I'm not aware anyone DID think it was going to survive. Certainly no one says that it in the article. I'm sure the people working in a marine park are well aware of the issues of deep water creatures raised to the surfavce. Given they even say it looked poorly, then I'm sure they simply grabbed it while they could for whatever information could be gleaned before it died. But I"m sure they'd appreciate the advice.

It's probably on a Japanese table next to the whale meat (from "scientific research" culled whales ) as we speak/type.

Weird looking toothy for sure.

They are mounting their harpoons on subs as we speak.
Greenpeace are also now in the market for solar powered subs(green) to combat the Jap' subs.

couldnt you just have a large presurised container of water (with viewing ports), take it down with a sub, capture some cool deep sea creatures, put them into the container, presurise it to the corresponding depth and then bring it up and let everyone see it?

Well for sharks, they will drown as they cannot pump water over their gills, but yeah if you could get a big enough container, that wouldnt implode at the required depths, and allowed fish to swim around freely, then yeah... theres not much else stopping it

Normal fish can pump water over their gills so size is not as much of a constraint, but tanks still shouldnt be too small anyway

I like it how they moved it into a shallow holding area then say it could be weakened because of being in shallow water.
