Its just a pity that rapid straps work so poorly with shoulder bags
I'm running a blackrapid on my 70-200 during gigs plus my Domke F-2 on the other side. Works a treat, though the shoulder pad on the RS4/7 likes to slide up and down so in hindsight I should have gotten the sports version.

The controls are actually more to accessible than my 5d Mark II. I can't get used to the viewfinder being on the left when i use my right eye. When i shot in Aperture priority mode the dials are instantly at hand. The top two dials were set as Apeture/Shutter then on the thumb dial on the right had ISO setting, which is easier to access than on my 5d Mark II. The EVF is exactly like the screen which may mean i would use the screen more than the EVF, more comfortable that way.

If i can get a Sigma 30mm f2.8 or the Zeiss 24mm F1.8 are better lenses for this. If they can nail a medium range zoom, i would use this as my main camera and dump my 5d Mark II.

Yeah, i can't do alternate sides for strap/bag. Shoulder problems preclude that.

I finally venture into the world of DSLRs after many years of looking in here with envy. Got myself a Nikon D3200 with 18-105 lens and now to start learning where everything is and what it does. I hope to be able to post some decent shots in the photography gallery. Off hiking in the Grand Canyon soon so can't ask for a better place to play!

Well done Stump... DSLR's have come a long way over the last decade... You've bought in at a good time though... very little separate the major players.

On a personal note, picked up an Epson V700 today for scanning my film. Had a brief test on a shoot I did last wednesday's film. Looks good, but will look much better once I wet scan.

One 6x7 scan exceeds 130mpx' at max optical res.

Not on the stock mounts, no... but there's aftermarket stuff and tutorials for it. It's not overly hard.

Yeah I already have the betterscanning holders, will probably pick up a betterscanning mounting station eventually, pretty happy with the dry-mount betterscanning holder but.

Finally settled on a tripod. Buying a Manfrotto 055XPROB off a mate, brand new. He ordered it from Amazon US, but its taken longer than he thought to get here (hasnt arrived yet) and he leaves for OS on Monday, hence he has gone out and splurged on a CXPRO4 and ill have his XPROB.

My Sirui K20x ballhead arrived today too, lovely piece of kit. Not quite as nice as the Acratech or RRS gear, but probably 97% of the way there for 1/4 of the price. Pics when the tripod arrives.

My new toys arrived for the expedition next year Man it felt like a bargain at $460 all up delivered

I took a gamble having not really used them before but wow am i impressed with the build quality. The ballhead is a beast, friction adjustment is just amazing with 2 levels of adjustment, even the finer details down to a spring loaded mounting thread on the monopod impressed me.

All up i got the:

Giottos MTL8350B Carbon Fiber Tripod (5kg)
Giottos MH 1300-657 Heavy duty friction ball head (15kg)
Giottos MM9780 Aluminium Monopod (5 section 15kg)
