Default Gentleman Jack, has anyone tried it?

Well as my thread title suggests, has anyone given it a go?

If so what did you think of it?

yep.. was given a bottle for my birthday and managed to drink it all that night. its not bad, as you'd imagine its just a smoother JD. for the price there are alot better bourbons and scotch's out there though. 3 out of 5 stars from me.

It's pretty reasonable. Almost good enough to drink straight. Makes for a really nice mixer, but seems a but of a waste.

smoother than JD? JD is smooth as already.

I went to the clipsal 500 yesterday and there was this big JD display with the history of JD etc...but no JD anywhere in the whole event

Is that the one that's about $85 for a bottle?

I forget which one it was, but a mate had a bottle of JD which goes for around that much. Very nice...very smooth...but not twice as good as Makers' IMO.

Cheers,
- Febs.

i am a pretty big scotch fan and i enjoyed it although i dont ruin my scotch with coke either straight with lemonade (sprite) or soda water (the straight part is when im drinking top shelf)

Which is fine, as its not a scotch.

Gentleman Jack is reasonable, if you like that sort of thing. For my mind, theres much better value on the market, but then again, I no longer drink bourbon.

If you really want some nice Jacks Straight, try Single Barrel

Have both a bottle of Single Barrel and Gentleman Jack, i pull out the Single Barrel only when my brother is over, a shot each and the bottle goes away....

Gentleman Jack is OK....i like it....but not enough to drink it frequently....

Wild Turkey rare breed is also very nice.

why would you shot it?

surely thats just a waste, as you're just pouring it straight down your gullet, and not savouring the flavour of it...

+1 to that.
I don't often try premium spirits, but dad makes a point of getting some rare breed duty free (or a glenfiddich) every time he comes home, and it goes down a treat

A shot can also be a measurement, he might not mean actually shooting it.
