hp 9008tx vista problem

I have the aforementioned laptop and installed vista yesterday, almost everything is looking good but my mute button is now permanently on. it doesnt UNmute even if i press it. the latest sound drivers were installed from the Driver CD that HP included along with the Vista upgrade DVD.

I dont know where to go from here. Anyone have suggestions?
Is it a hardware problem? Seems like a software setting though...

And I'm still figuring out to use my webcam... hmm, all this trouble for aero 3d... it's a cool effect i must admit.
