Asus G1 Supply Shortages

As someone who recently ordered an Asus G1 (in Melb), I was very disappointed with the on-going delays

.

Has anyone else who has ordered the G1 currently waiting for the arrival of the laptop, and does anyone know the exact situation with the supply of G1 in Aus.

I ordered the Asus G1 roughly about a month ago. Spoke to mln yesterday and I was told they should arrive by the 30th of March with the worst case scenario being the first week of April.

There ain't much we can do but wait

Most wholesalers report first week of April. One (Synnex) reports Monday-Tuesday next week.

I have one on back order myself. Looking forward to it.

I have recently ordered one also i was told supply has changed till the 30th of april

and last week they told me the 6th of april. I dont want to have to wait that long

I've ordered it from p4laptops.com.au and the ETA on the website is mid April...

It really sucks, I was expecting it in march.

Btw, how do you search for "Asus G1" on the forums, nothing comes up. Is the search retarded or something?

I couldn't find any relevant thread either, so I started this one. The delay is just getting unacceptable. I was told again it will arrive this thursday. Highly doubt it, anymore delays I will need to consider other options.

I was informed of yet another arrival date change the current date been put forward is the 15th of April. The guy didn't sound convinced that this is a solid arrival date so only time will tell.

Centrecom has pushed back ETA to late April, I suppose it would be the same for similar stores like Cworld. So I highly doubt i will get it this week.

Saw one of these at the GO3 Expo we had on the weekend... looks like a nice laptop... was a Japenes version though

That's about when I'll probably be getting mine. Seems like the delays are pretty uniform. It annoys me though because this was for a family member's birthday, about a week ago.

I'll be really pissed if they announce a mobile 8600 shortly after receiving my G1.

I finally got the g1.. it was sent on wednesday for it to arrive on thursday and after some dramas with the courier I picked it up this morning.

Unfortunately I am at work so I got to wait till lunch to check it out

how do these compare with the A8JS? They seem pretty much the same except for the G1 being 0.5KG heavier and RRP is about $500 more.

A8JS is 14" with 1440x900 res screen and 1gb ram as standard while the G1 is 15.4" with 1680x1050 res and 2gb ram as standard. And from what i've seen the price difference isn't quite so large either making the G1 much more attractive.

A more valid comparison would be the G1 vs the F3JV which aside from the amount of ram and OS have identical specs (the F3JV comes with 1gb and win xp as standard) - the price difference between those two though is pretty much the difference between 2x512 and 2x1gb ram modules. The G1 also has a fancy mini-lcd thing happenning as well.

edit: woops also forgot the G1 has a 7700 instead of the 7600 that the F3JV has. so really it's actually more than a little bit better for the small price difference.

I just got the A8JS with 2GB ram and its great but now Im not sure if I got the right one

Ohwell I was impatient and cbf waiting for the G1 anyway.

hehe.. if you're not missing the extra screen real estate then you probably made the right choice. I've a 17" dell atm but I want something a bit easier to cart around and the G1 is pretty much perfect (though if they delay it too much longer I'm just going to get the F3JV with the extra ram)
