Just read this report about the Aussie midnight launches across Brisbane city last night. The writer visited 3 stores, and apparently there were only 3 customers.
"Heading into Brisbane tonight, which for those that don't know is the third largest city in Australia, I wasn't quite sure what to expect as stores opened at midnight to launch Sony's long delayed console. I got the chance to check out three stores in the city, two EB Games stores and a JB HiFi (think Best Buy), and the word that comes to mind is 'underwhelmed'. With just a half hour until the launch of the console the stores were virtually empty. In all three cases there were more store employees in the shop than there were customers. Rigs were set up with the new console displayed on pretty TV's, but the only people taking advantage of them were employees. This is in high contrast to the Nintendo Wii launch just a few months back, where stores required police for crowd control even out in suburbs, and lines reached well over a hundred people hours before launch." How many customers were lined up at midnight in your area? I'm trying to get a feel for how popular the launch was. |

There was just me, my friend and another guy at the EB store I went to. We came really early to avoid the rush... except there was no rush. People only started turning up 10 mins before the store opened. Maybe 20 people all up, probably less actually buying a console.

Your just trying to justify the $1500 you just laid out on the PS3. Not like it matters to you anyway though, do you sleep on a bed of 50's ?

That's the way to recoup the loss on the console

It wasn't everyone, it was the first 100 customers. From the sounds of the press regarding the aussie launch though, if they gave away 100 TV's in sydney, it would of been every customer and then they would of had to give the rest to their staff and after that any homeless people wandering around the area would of got a nice treat....
