There is nothing in a vacum to be heated hence heat does not transfer through a vacum, rather radiation creates heat as predator said.

Heat transfers through a vacuum by radiated, or radiant heat energy.
It just doesn't travel by convective means.
Try it this way.
Short wavelength heat, travels through things like your car window, and makes long wavelength heat inside your car....

Liquid Nitrogen in transported in high pressure containers. Most often the end use types.
Do a google search on liquid nitrogen manufacture and see what you come up with.

There are 2 forms of heat transfer conductive heat transfer (which cant happen in a vacuum) and radiative heat transfer which can. Radiative heat transfer is when objects transfer heat between each other through elctromagnetic radiation.

Mind you this is getting off topic a bit.

ok i stand corrected then....and i think we have well and truly proved that a heatsink with a pocket of LN is not feasable.

Electromagnetic radiation. OOOOKAAAYYYYY....
I think you need to do a little bit more research than that....

Quite simply the idea is just complete bollocks.

I CBF putting the reasons down as it's just silly, check out some thermodynamics and you'll soon find out why it's just stupid

It absolutally wouldnt work. LN2 isnt a magical 'stay cold' substance

I havent actually played with it too much, but I theorise that if you poured it into a heatsink and then sealed it, the heatsink would either become brittle and the pressure of the LN2 turning into a gas would cause it to explode. (Think, what happens to water when you boil it, LN2 boils at (-195.8 ° C))

Even if you could manage to find something that kept the LN2 contained, it would eventually warm up anyway, Im unsure exactally what chemical reaction would of taken place for this to happen but Im sure one would

The only reason liquid Nitrogen cools anything is because it boils off. If you stop it boiling, eg, pressurised. It will stabilise at the ambient temperature. You can do the same thing with a bbq gas bottle. If you take a cylinder of gas , the liquid gas is at ambient. If you open the valve for a few seconds, you will get a layer of ice around the outlet. Thats how fridges work.

The Sun is the classic example of a black body radiation source. So how does the Sun's energy reach us through the vacuum of space?
I checked http://www-astronomy.mps.ohio-state...._1/notes2.html

Heat a black body. A black body is an object which absorbs all the light which strikes it. (A star is an approximation to a black body).

When a black body is heated, it emits a continuous spectrum of electromagnetic radiation.

It's a bastard when even the web gives you wrong info.
Keep digging...
