Default Car PC's/Systems

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to be asking this, but I was wondering if there are any australian distributors that sell in-car computers, whether it be parts or entire systems.

Sorry I dont know of any such distributors, but Im pretty sure that you can build your own using regular PC parts?

Of course a power transformer is required though.

here is a good forum

or try this online shop in eastern melbourne here, although i have not bought anything from them and have not had much response from them on email questions

you could just order stuff from os

my plan is to just buy a laptop & a car power supply and connect it to an amp & in dash screen - it then comes with built in ups (the battery) and is better designed for bumps...

The laptop idea is great, just couple it with a 10" touch screen and your good to go

I know of a guy with a 12" laptop mounted on a special arm thing in the front of his cruiser. Would be illegal but it's at the right hight to control with his left hand, running gps stuff, so it might be something to look into.

I run a car PC and it is all pretty basic to set up yourself. The www.mp3car.com forums are a wealth of info and will sort you out with everything you need to know. There isnt really any good places in Australia to buy the car PC specific stuff you need (PSU, touchscreen etc). American eBay is probably ur best bet.

All the rest of the stuff like the CPU/mobo, HDD etc can all just be purchased locally at your fav computer store.
