But can some one confirm if this really does have a firewire port? The above specs came from HP site, but reviews of it say it has a FW port? Also hows the Geforce go 6150 chip? Can it play most of the newer games one low to medium settings?

Anyone already have one?

I'll have one in the next few weeks. I'm not sure about the firewire port, but this is what I found for the video...

"NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 / 6150 is the integrated graphic of NVIDIA nForce Go 430 MCP for AMD Turion notebooks. It doesn't have any integrated memory, but uses a part of the mainmemory (up to 128 MB) like the direct competitor Intel GMA 950. Therefore the gaming performance is quite moderate and can only be used for elder games."

I won't be playing games so it doesn't bother me I'm sure you could run Warcraft III on it though...

Cheers StOo_Burger, i hope to get it a bit sooner than that. order it today actually. Just finding it hard to find a store that has it on display to play with.

Khalil, yeah i had a look at the review at that site, but did not check the forum. seems like a lot of people dont like the turion x2 cpu, but on performace its just a bit under the c2d. battary time is also a bit iffy on review sites. some say 3 hours on standard battary with NO power saving on, other say 2 hours WITH power saving.

well just got mine

must say it looks very nice, but it is a bit heavy. its charging atm, so will post more details and a mini review of it later.

though right now i can tell if you want to use it as a tablet for long periods it will feel very heavy very fast.

Where did you get it from? I have been to a few places and no luck so far. Did you order it directly from HP?

Ordered from HP directly. Did go to harvey norman to see it physically and stuff. they had one more left and that was the display model. and i really did not want to get that even with a discount since i'[m sure there would have been a lot of kids pressing the touch screen.

another think i should not, just visibily the battary is very small, looks like 4 AA batts!

have not powered it yet, at work still...

battery life is not very good.
I can see the battery % dropping by 1% every minute. (I had Wifi turned on, and Bluetooth off)
Last less than 2hrs for my "normal use" (just web browsing + IM)

4 cell battery - pretty much 4 x AA cells in a plastic package. No wonder the battery life is crap.

Most laptops come with at least a 6 cell battery - you'd think this one would be better than average, being designed with portability as a big consideration.

yep battery life sux, but rest is good (for the price)

Over all the lappy could have been thinner and smaller, screen has a rather large bizel round it.

Rotating screen seems firm and ther is no wobble, but i would not use the touch screen while its in laptop mode.

Touch screen started of being very unresponsive, but after a bit of use is much better.

have not played any games and stuff (its not a gaming machine after all) speed seems fine, no noticeable lag, if office files and movies.

the quick play function is useless. Quick play to HP means boot the computer launch vista, then start the dvd player app.

Lights on the quick function buttons around screen are always on (and blue) annoying if you wish to watch a movie.

remote works fine, but limited to dvd/Windows media centre functions only. uses the expresscard slot for storage.

weight is "ok" using the weight saver makes not much difference.

heat/noise. on battery mode the fan hardly runs and when it does its very quiet. on mains, its constantly on but resonable quite. The fan can get loud when theres a lot of processing stuff happening.

recommend a fresh vista install. HP puts lots of crap stuff and even after uninstalling a lot of it i still get nagging screens asking to do a HP update, which can not be unistalled.

Fresh install means making a recovery CD and running that? I didn't get a Vista disc with mine I don't think... I'll have to check. I know the sticker is on the bottom though...

By fresh install i mean using a differnt Vista cd/dvd to the HP ones. If you use the recovery cd's you will get all the same HP software instaled, use a another copy of the vista but the key under the laptop (so its all legal)

i recomend not removeing the recovery partion if you do a new install. that bit seems very handy, some how i managed to crash vista on the first day i had it, and nothing worked, safe mode/system restore/etc had not made at the time the recovery cd's, so used the recovery partition and it worked fine.

btw if you want full 128mb graphics, you need to change a setting in the BIOS, by default it allocates 62mb only. you have 16,32,64 and 128 options.

Hmm... Alright, I'll have to try to find a copy of Vista from somewhere then.

One last thing, have you re-installed Vista already? Does it pick up the touchpad, touchscreen and all that jazz automatically?

unfortuneately, i dont have a copy of vista so no reinstalled, tried to removed all the HP stuff except the wireless/bt manager, but am sure there some stuff hidden.

From what i hear the only issues you will have is the finger reader, the software for it is not on the HP site, (just the drivers) i've not checked the vendors site to see though, and lappy is not with me atm so not sure who it is.
