Default Laptop with decent TV/DVI etc out?

Im looking to upgrade my laptop and it will be taking over the function of my main PC. At the moment ive got my PC running a 42" LCD for movie watching etc..

I want to turf this PC and get a laptop that can do this.

The TV is High Def, so a laptop that has some sort of Hi Definition out capability is what i want.

Does something like this exist?

Cheers,

Rhys

A lot of laptops come with DVI. Just check out some specs of models that catch your eye.

also lots of larger 17'' and even some 11'' toshiba's are equipted with HDMI which you can use a dvi to hdmi converter.

most systems come standard with vga and dvi but you need to ensure your running a widescreen resolution above 1080 lines down if your display is so called true HD or 1080 lines progressive. For example most computer resolutions are 1600x900 .. this is fine for most HDTVs

Well when you hook up the panel, then you can force whatever resolution you want it. WOuld the graphics card have much part to play in this? ie. dedicated over integrated?

Just use a D15 to RGB cable and run it into the component input of the TV. I made my own cable doing this to my projector from my shuttle PC and it works fine. Not saying that it will definatly work on your TV though.

Like CQGLHyperion said, shouldn't an adapter for any laptop's VGA port do the job?

eg:

(Disclaimer: eBay used as an example only. I imagine you'd be able to find something in a shop if eBay irritates you )
