Hi, I am just looking around at ultra-portable notebooks at the moment. Are there other notebooks with similar specs to the Sony VAIO VGNTX56GNW?
http://www.sony.com.au/vaio/catalog/...egoryId=22104# http://www.laptop.com.au/product/sonytx17gpw1gb.shtml (Better link) I have a HP Compaq nc4010, but I want something with a built in DVDRW and longer battery life. Also, has anyone had any experience with this model VAIO? I have heard Sony's support leaves a lot to be desired.

ive always been a huge fan of the toshiba libretto but the latest one they made is particularly elusive and as such expensive. love the ultra cool ULV processors though

hmm which order to answer in ....
yes i have experience cause i own one! they are great and it is the best thing i have ever spent money on. so handy and the power of such low spec'd hardware is supprising i bought it with my constant travels to uni for thesis work and that i wanna go overseas at the end of the yr. i find typing (latex) on it confortable and i have rather large hands. battery life on the tx is unsurpassed~ i get about 10hr's typing latex and about 8hrs if i use the wireless. this is ofcourse in a custom battery saver mode (the config software for the tx is great) and on a heavyly tweaked xp (ie diddly doodle services running and all bloat ware removed). The only other alternative i would concider would be the japanese model of the fujitsu p7150 (i think thats the number) however comparitivly u have to make large concessions in weight and battery life. with the tx u get a 7200 battery as standard which is normall the extended battery on most laptops. any q's and i'd be happy to answer since i went thru the same conciderations u prob are now
