I'm loving it now that my main character (Dwarf Guardian / Armourer) has reached 30 I've been having great fun in the Lone Lands and now North Downs, perfecting my abilities to tank as many foes as possible Teaming up with a champ works amazingly.. I grab all the agro and do AoE damage to keep it, while the champ blurrs around chopping into them. Great fun =D

Best moments so far:
- crafting my first set of heavy armour at level 15 (the min) which was the critical success version (need clean bargest tails and mastery of apprentice level to do it) of the heavy bronze ( called hardened bronze). the stats on them were crazy compared to what i had been using and I kept many of them till level 20s!
- doing the Great Barrows quests with a random group of ppl who just happened to be awesome and all pulled their weight we had two minsterals, a champ (who with me did all the tanking), a LM and a hunter. Noone was so high a level that it was too easy and we almost wiped on a few occasions. Once we took down Samrog it was a real shame that it was all over
- power questing with a champ in ND
- finding i could sell my dwarf iron ingots on the auction house and buy back 7 x the amount in rich iron =D made 7g after all that

You can apparently play it without windows according to this thread

Should be playing it for a while still! Looking forward to level 35 and a horse... have 2g already!
hehe indeed all the boar/wolf/bear quests tend to feel a lot like WoW but some of the other quests are awesome, just did that Troll quest in the LL, extremely fun, especially because i fellowed with some kinsman.

Yet to get into Monster Play but the Kinship is having a Monster Play Night on Friday i think it was, will have to try again.

And as champ, well not being a hunter it kinda sucks when you don't have a mount, so I'm looking forward to lvl 35 as well, ironically i have about 2g already as well, just dinged lvl 27 as well, so getting there

indeed one of my friends in lotr are running it on ubuntu and he says it actually runs better then under windows, but then he is running a really old computer so whether it would be better on a new PC is a different story.

Juuso is my dwarf/guardian, the other alts are Eero (Human/Hunter), Terje (Hobbit/Burglar), and Aira (Elf/LM). I think i was level 21 or 22 at the time, the champ was 26, there were a few in the teens, can't remember the rest

I actually follow a similar thread quite closely ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=386480&page=40 ). However, that only goes for "running" the game. I still need access to a Windows install to actually install the game, as well as update. And I literally have zero Windows machines in my house.

Ok, I'm going to splurge out on a new laptop, and that'll give me the copy of Windows required to install+update Lotro. The MS tax is good for something at least.
Can anyone give me an idea of how well it will run, on the following:

1.66GHz, 2MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB Core2Duo
2GB dual channel DDR2 RAM
GeForce 8400 GS w/ 128MB dedicated RAM

It'll be running at 1280x800, and I just want to know whether it'll be playable. I don't need great FPS, anything 30+ would be awesome.

Then there's my main rig, a 3500+ with 2GB and a 6600GT with 128MB, running at 1280x1024. I've read that this should be fine though, I'm more curious with the 8400 as it's a GeForce2Go.

i think it may be the amount of video ram i have becuase if i leave the textures at high and turn everything else up it runs fine, but as soon as i turn the textures up to max, it chops about etc

hmm ah well i may have to upgrade my video card soon it seems

but then i only got this thing 2 months ago....

and i run the game at 1280x1024
