Whats the best way to spread arctic silver 5 with? What did you guys use, to get a thin line of AS5 down the middle of your cpu?

I actually wrap the end of my finger in glad wrap and spread the AS with that, I think it helps to work the AS into all the tiny imperfections in the processors TIM surface

Cheers

Are you serious? Place a drop of AS5 on the CPU die, then spread it using one side of the CC.

You can use anything with a flat edged surface, unless you're on the absolute bleeding edge of overclocking it's not going to make hardly a difference at all. Personally I wouldn't want AS all over my gold card

Plenty of instructions here about how to properly apply AS: http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_s...structions.htm

WOuldn't it be easier just to name the CPU?
It's not as if somebody who dosen't know what their CPU is will buy AS5.

Yeah, well normally you would think so yep, but they are just catering to the lowest common denominator I guess. And that would be the people who buy all the flashy gear upon recommendation but don't know how to use it all.

I always use the little white plastic clip off the bag that bread comes in, just be careful, some have little lumps along the edge.
