I am about to run some cable through the roof and I seem to remember that you're supposed to avoid fluorescent lights and things like that. I've also got a feeling that you're not supposed to run either in parallel with or perpendicular to the main electrical cables. Can anyone elaborate on this for me??
Thanks |

Running your data cables parallel to AC power cables can cause attenuation - that's not something you want. So you're not supposed to run data parallel to mains power cables - run them perpendicular if you can (there will obviously be times where that's not possible - where that is the case, try keep them as far apart as you can).

pull cable? I thought I just get up in my roof, run the cable from one room to another, then drop it down the wallspace knock a hole in the wall and bingo home network. Am I way to amateur to consider this?
